Glass Portraits
“Glass Portraits” is a study on the convolution of personality. It is an amalgam of liquid sand and heat (glass) and body and mind. It was made with glass placed in front of my lens. Bubbles and imperfections in the glass disrupt the portrait by poking holes, thereby pointing out gaps or changes in character. The glass distorts the body and serves as a literal barrier representing disconnectedness. Color, light, and shadow make facial features more prominent and represent emotions. This conveys how mood affects personality. Overall, personality has layers—just like these portraits—and is malleable, like glass.
